Care of the Venus Fly-Trap Venus fly-traps are the most remarkable plants in the world. Care of the Venus fly-trap is very easy. These plans will take care of themselves as far as feeding. Did you know that a trap only requires a few insects a year? Give them a lot of sunlight and water, it will amaze you how they grow and function. As these plants mature their traps will turn black. All you have to do is cut the black traps off and watch as new traps appear in about six weeks. In the winter months you can cut the black traps off and let your fly-trap go dormant for the winter. To let your trap go dormant, cut back all the leaves, put the bulb (corm) in a ziplock bag and place in the refrigerator for about 60 days. Take trap from refrigerator and repot. Place pot in dish of water and in a window with good sunlight. You will be amazed at how fast your fly-trap grows. |
